A couple from Washington State were given the joy of parenthood in a unique way.

The DeVores had always wanted to be parents, but after 10 years of disappointments the DeVores were trying to accept this wouldn't happen.

Then they heard about Snowflakes, a program from a Christian non-profit agency called Nightlight.

Snowflakes is a unique program that takes frozen embryos created by couples for their own in-vitro fertilization and matches the embryos with a new couple.

The DeVores adopted an embryo, a little girl. They called her C.J., and when she was born it seemed she couldn't wait to meet her parents.

"Right away she held on to Matt's finger," Charlie DeVore, C.J.'s mother said.

C.J.'s story began when another couple who was finally able to conceive on their own put their other embryos up for adoption. Her parents plan to make her a book of how they became a family.

"You know, she may not understand it all, but so she grows up with it. It's never a shock or something that's a secret," Matt DeVore said.

There are hundreds of thousands of frozen embryos in storage banks in the United States. While most embryo donations are anonymous, Snowflakes encourages open communication between the families
