Sister's Prayer for Dying Twin

Mrs. Fan loves music and hoped that when her twins were old enough, they’d be performers.

She explains, “I envisioned them wearing long white skirts on stage and even going on tour someday.”

But one of the twins, Meng, was born with a hole in her heart and started having heart attacks as a baby.

Mr. Fan confesses, “I was really afraid we’d lose her.  She was very small. She didn’t develop, and doctors said she wouldn’t be smart, kind of like Down’s syndrome. I worried people would make fun of her.”

Meng’s immune system was so weak that she got pneumonia and lost consciousness several times. As she got older, she couldn’t even play with her sister for more than two minutes without heart trouble.

“Her arteries were too narrow, so her oxygen supply was not enough,” Mr. Fan sighs.  “She gasped for air and panted like a dog.”

Meng’s sister Yao remembers, “She turned purple, and my mother said we couldn’t exercise together anymore. I cried because I was scared my sister would die.”

“Yao listened to her sister’s heart with a toy stethoscope and pretended to give her injections,” Mrs. Fan recounts.  “Then she said, ‘You will be all better now.’”

Yao explains, ‘I love her and wanted to help her.’”

Meanwhile Meng’s mother remembered her dream and taught her to play the keyboard.

“She was very happy to hear the music,” Mrs. Fan says. “But I knew that only surgery would make Meng better.  So, we decided to sell our house to pay for it, even if we had to live in a tent under a bridge.”

When there were no offers, Mrs. Fan prayed.

She admits, “I had nowhere else to go. So, I prayed to the heavens for my little girl to get better soon.”

Then a doctor associated with CBN heard about Meng.  The Fans contacted us for help, and we paid for her heart surgery.

“I felt a bright light come into my heart,” Mrs. Fan exclaims. “My daughter would live!”

Mr. Fan says, “Now Meng is very lively and cheerful.”

Yao adds, “My sister isn’t in pain anymore so we can play as much as we want. My favorite thing is to play the piano together and sing!”

“Maybe our whole family can perform together in the future,” Mrs. Fan suggests.  She concludes, “Blessings to you on the other side of the ocean.  Blessings to CBN. You’ve helped change our lives.”
