Faith Over Fear— God’s Blueprint for Success

Katie Guiliano is the founder of Hosanna Revival, a company she started as a college student.  She wanted other people to be as excited about the Bible as she was and thought this could happen if Bible covers were more beautiful.

She explains, “I had fallen in love with God through His word, and I looked at this Bible in my hands and thought, ‘If it's so beautiful on the inside, why on earth are the covers ugly?’”

So, Katie re-bound and hand-painted her own bible, and within a week, she was doing this for other people, for profit.  And while the business is doing well today, she and her husband Nick’s journey came with risk and uncertainty.

“We were so incredibly broke as we were walking into marriage,” recalls Nick. “Katie really had no income. We were dwindling down to nothing in her accounts. And then we, we were paying for a wedding.”

Katie had dropped out of school, re-investing every penny of profit into Hosanna Revival.  She never took a salary, yet she always tithed, as a friend encouraged her to do early in the business.

“It just sparked something in me of like, this feels important to be able to tithe and to consider seriously how to invest this money that God has entrusted me with,” Katie shares.  “And I would find missionaries or organizations or individuals and just give it.”

Nick was also a tither.

He says, “That 10% rule thing kind of became a thing where I wouldn’t even stick it in my pocket.  I would set it aside and say, ‘God, this money is for your kingdom.  Go. You gave it to me.  I want to give it right back to you.’”

With this kind of financial perspective, neither ever worried about how they’d get by, even when Katie didn’t have the money she needed to go from hand-painting to mass producing the Bibles.

Katie remembers, “The publisher said, ‘You need to pay us $70,000.  There was 40 grand in the bank account for the business bank account.  I drained my personal bank account, and I was still $10,000 short.”

Katie’s dad loaned her the $10,000.  Meanwhile, two nights before their wedding, it was decided that Nick would quit his corporate job the next day and join Katie full-time in the business.

Nick explains, “We prayed about it.  I was split.  There was part of me that felt this undeniable peace, and there was the logistics side of me, the safety side of me that was like, ‘This is chaotic.  This is crazy.’”

Katie adds, “I’m writing my vows, and I finish up, and I check my email probably at 2:00 AM, and I see in my email inbox an email from a buyer at that retailer and they said, ‘Yeah, we're in,’ and it came, I mean, within a hundred dollars of the entire annual salary we had prepared for Nick.  We made that decision; the next day, God said, ‘I've got you.’”

Katie shared the good news with Nick at their wedding reception.

He says, “I started to cry.  To see God do something so quickly, to bring so much peace.  I felt so cared for by the Lord in that moment.  It was a wedding gift from God.”

They paid back Katie’s dad.  Revenue for Hosanna Revival tripled within the next year and again in 2019.  Even in the uncertain climate of COVID, the business grew, and by 2024, revenue was up another 35%.

Katie explains, “We were faithful with what He entrusted us with and then continued to give us more to steward.  And He trusted us with more and more and more.  And I think that connection is so clear.”

As the Guilianos make more, they give more.

“If our business is going to continue to grow, our giving should absolutely be following that same model,” Katie declares.  “And (we) just so desperately want to honor Him with our resources and what we think is His.”

Nick exclaims, “When we give, we get to be a part of the kingdom of God.  We get to be a part of the evangelism that's happening here on earth.  That's the blessing.  Seeing that work being done, being a joyful giver.”

The couple encourages others to be good stewards and give generously, like they do.

“If you step out in faith and in obedience, you're going to uncover something new about who the Lord is,” Katie says.

“And when you tithe and you see the impact that your money goes towards, it brings joy, life to your faith,” Nick concludes.  “Just jump in and experience it.”

“Now I Feel God’s Unchanging Love”

Nothing made Yaxuan happier than coloring.  Then one day, she threw her crayons down and started crying uncontrollably.

“Her lips turned purple, and her skin got cold like ice cubes,” Yaxuan’s mother recounts.

Her father shares, “She cried until she couldn’t cry anymore, and her body turned green.”

Yaxuan’s brother further explains, “It was like there was an invisible iron plate pressing on her heart so she couldn’t breathe.”

Tests showed that Yaxuan had tricuspid valve depression, a rare and complex heart condition.

“I never expected anything like this to happen to her,” weeps Mr. Gao.

Shortly after leaving the hospital that first time, she was back in ICU with organ failure, sepsis, and a heart rate of over 200 beats per minute, all caused by her heart disease.

“The doctor said she may only live to be three or four-years-old,” reports Mr. Gao.  “I was so worried.”

Yaxuan needed surgery, yet the Gaos are poor and couldn’t afford it.

“Friends told us we should send Yaxuan to a welfare home or put her in a small box and leave her on the side of the road,” Mrs Gao says.  “But I’d never give up on her.  If I could, I’d give her my heart.”

Yaxuan continued to get worse.  The couple sold their only means of transportation to pay for treatments, while Yaxuan’s brother chipped-in, too.

He remembers, “I heard my mother telling a friend that they still didn’t have enough for surgery, so I took out all my money to give to her.  I didn’t want my sister to die.”

Mrs. Gao comments, “Yaxuan was so thin that they could barely find her blood vessels for injections and infusions.  I didn’t know what to do because without money, the hospital wouldn’t do surgery, and my daughter would die.”

Then another mother at the hospital told Mrs. Gao about Operation Blessing, and you helped make surgery possible for Yaxuan.

“Now she can run and jump, and she’s having more fun with her artwork than ever. It’s like God gave me a new daughter,” exclaims Mrs. Bai.

“We play together and are happy every day,” adds Yaxuan’s brother.

Mr. Bai declares, “I believe it was a miracle.  Operation Blessing reminded me of the God I knew as a child but had forgotten.  Now, I feel his unchanging love.  God did this through you.”

“I didn't know much about God before, but after all this, I understand more.  I’m very grateful to Jesus and to the loving partners at Operation Blessing,” concludes Mrs Bai.  “Now, Yaxuan’s future is bright.”

Feeling Stuck? Trusting God Can Transform Your Life

Suraj Paul, a pastor from India, and his wife, Sweetie, grew up in generous Indian families who always gave.

Suraj began, “We always grew up tithing. I think it's also our parents, the background that we are, we grew up in, they always tithed, and they taught us to tithe.”

In fact, they’ve given 35% of their income away.

“There is a principle with sowing. Every time you sow, you will reap. That is the principle of nature. So, every time you give God just gives you an abundance.”

So, in 2021, when Suraj decided to pursue a ministry degree overseas, their biblical understanding of finances was challenged.

He continued, “Now it was time for us to really look to God and say, God, here we are. There is no other source we can look at but you.”

Despite applying to two schools, Suraj had no peace about moving forward. Then, a ministry leader suggested a school he had never heard of before in the u.s.

“One of the pastors that I was working with said, why don't you consider Regent? And the moment we prayed about Regent, we had a peace that I cannot explain. It's just this peace that led us to make that decision.”

His wife was a registered nurse in India and hoped that she would be able to work while they were in the U.S. Unfortunately, she could not.

His wife, Sweetie added, “I was hoping that I would be able to support my family, so I had tears and, uh, you know, bitterness, bitterness that maybe I didn't do something right.”

Even though they did not have the money to pay for school, they believed that God would make a way. A couple said god spoke to them to cover his first year at Regent.

“They said, we've done things like this before. We've heard the word of the Lord, and he's never failed us.” Suraj added,

It didn’t stop there. Over the next couple of months, multiple people were giving money to Suraj and his family which allowed them to move to the U.S. So Suraj could start school. They were also able to pay their bills on time while they faithfully tithed and gave offerings.

“I knew God will take care of us because we are following his call his heart. So, we took that decision to come. We started praying, you know, okay, thank you Lord. I know you're making a way. We understood that we are not owners of anything. We have, we are stewarding what God has given us.”

In his second year of school, Suraj had been awared the first ever Robertson Scholarship, which would cover the whole school year along with their bills and day to day living expenses.

“That was the beginning of me seeing that the Lord can really answer your prayer your, your tears he sees, and your deepest needs, or your darkest hours only he's there.” Sweetie noted.

As he finishes his education and begins to step into what god has called him to do, Suraj and his wife live each day amazed at what god has done for them and continue to tithe faithfully.

“I just thank God for all that he has done, and especially the last three years has been phenomenal. He has given us more than we deserve. You know, he has given a hundred percent. And how much more does he deserve everything that we have.” Suraj concluded.

When God Nudges and You Obey—Prepare for Blessing!

When John and TJ Santos were planning their wedding, John mentioned he was a CBN Partner.

TJ said with excitement, “I was like, ‘CBN!’ I said, um, ‘I grew up watching 700 club. It was playing, uh, my mother had it on in the kitchen every morning.’ I said, ‘It, you know, 700 club has become like a part of who I am.’”

John explained, “By giving to Operation Blessing and CBN it makes God happy, because we are doing the work that Christ told us to do.”

John works 3rd shift as a custodian for Boston College, so every night, they watch the 700 Club on YouTube before he leaves.

TJ said, “We wanna hear the real news, the truth. So, we go to the segment of CBN’s News, or we're like, you know, if we feel like we wanna hear a story, you can find just the segment of the testimony of that day.”

“It's just so filled with faith, the presence of God, the hand work of God,” said John.

TJ added, “At the end of that hour, no matter what kind of day you had, no matter what you're going through, you feel so encouraged and alive.”

For years, they both desired to volunteer with Operation Blessing to help disaster victims. When Hurricane Helene struck North Carolina, TJ felt that God told her it was her time. So, she packed her bags and left her home in Rhode Island.

TJ explained, “You could see the sadness. I mean, some of them just looked lifeless and hopeless, but by the time we got done serving them, helping them, you know, we were able to pray with them and hug them. The light in me became the light in them.”

She was only planning on staying a week, but just hours on the ground, she felt God was telling her to stay longer.

TJ said, “And I heard in my spirit, Isaiah 6:8, ‘Then the Lord said, ‘Who will I send? And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’ I said, ‘Lord, yeah, I'm here.’”

TJ was hired as a Volunteer Coordinator for Operation Blessing and stayed in North Carolina for an additional month. She saw first-hand how her donations were helping people with critical needs.
TJ said, “So, we brought generators, because many people couldn't be without electric 'cause they were either on dialysis or they needed oxygen. So, we even got generators out to people.”

TJ and John know that being away from each other during future disasters may not be easy, but they believe it’s the Holy Spirit’s leading.

John explained, “When you could tell God's happy something just happened and your spirit senses God's happiness, that's like, that's better than anything that you could possibly imagine.”

TJ said, “Don't ever be on the fence of giving God your ‘yes.’ Whether your ‘yes’ is to sign up and go be a volunteer for Operation Blessing, or it's to sow seed, there is always a beautiful harvest that comes from sewing into any ministry under CBN. And you don’t wanna miss out on an opportunity of being obedient to God.”
