"When you talk to these mothers it's not the monster that you see on television...most of the time they are people who didn't get the life lessons that God allowed me to have. I had one mother who told me that she was never told that she was fearfully and wonderfully made until she was in prison," Amber Strong said on today's CBN News Daily Rundown. 

The number of women going to prison is rising. If those women are mothers, they lose the opportunity to see their children grow up, connect with them and make positive memories. 

The GEM program is working to heal those relationships.

New Yorkers had a scare Monday after a helicopter crashed into a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan. Investigators say there's no evidence of terrorism but they are trying to figure out why the pilot was flying in restricted airspace. The crash site is only one block from where CBN videographer Richey Boyd is staying while in the city for a news shoot. Richey is on today's CBN News Daily Rundown.

Virginia Beach City employees returned to work Tuesday, less than 72 hours after the shooting that took the lives of 12 of their co-workers. Prayer gatherings remain a constant sight at the Municipal Center as people visit the makeshift memorial set up to remember the victims. Videographer Jason Gill was at the memorial Tuesday afternoon getting footage for CBN. For him, this assignment was personal.

A gunman opened fire in one of the Virginia Beach municipal buildings Friday afternoon, killing 12 people.
