Fifteen years after a vaccine help eradicate measles in the United States, the disease is making a comeback.

With many people now opting out of being vaccinated, the highly contagious disease is spreading.

There were more cases last year than the United States has seen in two decades, and just this month there have been 84 cases in 14 states. Even in Arizona, the site of Super Bowl XLIX, 1,000 people are being monitored.

But doctors say you don't need to worry about getting measles if your shot record is current.

Dr. Takashi Wada represents California’s Santa Barbara County Public Health Department. He reassured the public that measles can be easily prevented.

"The most important thing is to be up to date on the vaccines," he said.

Most people recover from the measles, but it can be deadly and sometimes causes brain damage and pneumonia.
