Scientists believe that certain chemicals used in plastic products might cause brain problems.

Researchers at the University of Calgary discovered that bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol S (BPS) altered brain development in zebrafish that led to hyperactivity.

Scientists studied zebrafish because their brains are surprisingly similar to human brains.

Today, some plastics manufacturers are replacing BPA with BPS because it's thought to be safer.

But scientists say until we know more about BPA and BPS, it's best to stay away from these two chemicals as much as possible, particularly women who are pregnant.
