Give Your Body a 'Reboot' with a New Diet

06-23-2015

A five-day diet that mimics fasting could improve long-term health by helping the body to "reboot."

A new study published in the journal Cell Metabolism says the Fasting Mimicking Diet may reduce risk factors for cancer, diabetes, heart disease and even aging.

Participants in the study followed the diet five days a month for three months.

During those five days, their daily intake of calories, proteins, carbohydrates, and fat was considerably reduced -- helping cell regeneration, reducing blood glucose and inflammation, and promoting weight loss.

Researchers would like to get the diet approved by the Food and Drug Administration for clinical use.
