Two Jewish Teens Stabbed on Shavuot

05-26-2015

JERUSALEM, Israel -- An Arab resident of Jerusalem's Old City stabbed two Israeli teens in the back near the Damascus Gate as they made their way to the Western Wall early Sunday morning for the Shavuot holiday.

The two 17 year olds were evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital for treatment, where their condition was listed as stable.

Jewish tradition teaches that on Shavuot, Moses received the Torah (the first five books of the Bible) on Mt. Sinai so many observe the holiday by studying the scriptures all night long.

Police were able to identify the 19-year-old attacker on surveillance footage, locate the weapon near his home, and take him in for questioning.
