World Vision Denies Terror-Funding Scandal

08-31-2016

Christian organization World Vision is fighting allegations of secretly funneling millions of dollars to the Gaza terror group, Hamas.

Earlier this month, Israeli authorities arrested and charged World Vision's Gaza aid director, Mohammed el-Halabi, with funding Hamas. An investigation showed el-Halabi has allegedly sent roughly $50 million to the terror group over the past five years.

Meanwhile, a new revelation in the scandal reveals this was not the first time someone questioned el-Halabi's financial integrity.

According to The Wall Street Journal, a World Vision employee made a complaint against el-Halabi before his arrest, but an internal investigation resulted in little condemning evidence.

Kevin Jenkins, head of World Vision International, says the organization has begun a new investigation in hopes of bringing the truth to light.

"We want the truth to come out," Jenkins said Monday. "With these serious allegations, fairness and transparency should be at the core of it."

Meanwhile, Israel is moving ahead with its trial and is still deciding whether it will be conducted in open court. An open court trial could mean compromising.
