JERUSALEM, Israel -- Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah demanded an apology from Israel Police after the car he was travelling in was pulled over for reckless driving on Route 60 near the Jewish community of Beit El, north of Ramallah.
According to Israeli media, police clocked the car at 145 km (90 mph) per hour in an 80 km (50 mph) per hour zone.
Hamdallah called one of the officers "a dog" on "occupied territory" and refused to leave until he received an apology, YNet reported. He later told the P.A.'s official Ma'an News Agency Israeli officers escorting "settlers" stopped him at a checkpoint and planned to attack him.
A similar incident occurred last month when police pulled over a speeding car carrying former P.A. prime minister Ahmed Qureia near Ma'ale Adumim, also clocked at 145 km per hour in an 80 km per hour stretch of highway.
