A new billboard campaign promoting the Ark Encounter theme park in Northern Kentucky has a message for those who oppose the project.

"To all of our intolerant liberal friends -- thank God you can't sink this ship," one of the 16 billboards reads.

Answers in Genesis, the group behind the proposed Noah's Ark theme park, explained the billboard campaign is designed to correct misinformation about the project put out by the media.

"More than anything, we want to dispel some of the myths that people have about the ark project, including the charge that tax payer money is being used to build this Ark Encounter. No unwilling tax payer will be involved in this tax incentive," Mark Looy, chief communications officer for Answers in Genesis, said.

The theme park could get a sales tax refund if it does well. The Ark Encounter is scheduled to open in August 2016.
