More pregnant women in California are choosing to keep their babies, according to a new study from the Guttmacher Institute.

The study revealed women are about half as likely to get an abortion than their peers were 20 years ago. The institute contacted every abortion clinic in America for its study.

Bailey Collier is one of the California women behind the numbers. The young mother decided to keep her baby in the face of difficult circumstances.

Collier's son was born after only 27 weeks and weighed only two pounds.

"I was scared for him and his health, more than mine because he was really early. I didn't know really how that would affect him," Collier told KERO-TV in California.

"I'm not saying he's a mistake," she added. "But if I could have waited to have him, I would have waited. But now that I have him I wouldn't take him back."

Beyond California, studies show abortion rates in the United States are at their lowest level since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized the practice in 1973.
