The nation's military families may pay a little more for bread and milk next year.

The Pentagon's proposed budget for 2015 includes a cut in subsidies for commissaries.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said he hopes to slash the annual direct subsidy for military commissaries by $1 billion.

While Hagel insists that commissaries will remain a bargain, military families said they will feel the pain as they shop for groceries.

"I think that's kind of outrageous," customer James Southard said. "We're already paying enough."

"I think they ought to cut the budget somewhere else besides the military," he said.

The budget proposal has already drawn fire for its drastic reductions in the size of our military forces.
