Same-sex marriage is at the heart of the controversy surrounding religious freedom laws in Indiana and Arkansas.

Christians who oppose gay marriage believe the Bible teaches marriage is between one man and one woman.

Gay-marriage supporters claim such belief amounts to discrimination.

Meanwhile, last week, something happened that gained very little media attention.

The National Black Church Initiative, a coalition of 34,000 Black and Latino churches with more than 15 million members, broke off relations with the Presbyterian Church USA.

Why? Because the PCUSA voted to allow same-sex marriage.

"NBCI and its membership base are simply standing on the Word of God within the mind of Christ. We urge our brother and sisters of the PCUSA to repent and be restored to fellowship," NBCI President Anthony Evans told Charisma.

"PCUSA's manipulation represents a universal sin against the entire church and its members," he continued.

"With this action, PCUSA can no longer base its teachings on 2,000 years of Christian scripture and tradition and call itself a Christian entity in the body of Christ. It has forsaken its right by this single wrong act," Evans said.

NBCI President Anthony Evans shared more with CBN's Efrem Graham about his coalition's break from the PCUSA. Click play to watch.
