A Oklahoma judge overturned a law that restricted abortion-inducing drugs.
On Monday, District Judge Patricia Parrish struck down the law that required doctors to strictly follow label instructions when prescribing abortifacients.
Gov. Mary Fallin signed the law last year, which prohibited off-label uses of abortion-inducing drugs and required doctors to administer them only in accordance with the Food and Drug Admintration guidelines. The state's Republican-controlled legislature also approved of the law.
However, the Center for Reproductive Rights filed a lawsuit againist it.
The New York-based organization argued that the law placed unconsititutional restrictions on non-surgical abortion in the earliest weeks of preganncy. They went on to say that it interfered with the doctor's discretion.
The state's Republican leaders plan to appeal the decision.
