America's Religious Landscape Seeing a Major Shift

01-01-2015

A new report by the Pew Forum is shedding light on the religious landscape in America and researchers say they're seeing a major shift.

Findings show that more than one-quarter of American adults have left the faith in which they were raised in favor of another religion or no religion at all.

The survey also finds that the number of people who say they are unaffiliated with any particular faith today has more than "double" the number who say they were not affliated with any particular religion as children.

Among Americans ages 18 to 29, one in four say they are not currently affiliated with any particular religion.

The report was conducted by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. More than 35,000 Americans age 18 and older participated in the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey.
