One of America's most prestigious Christian colleges is dropping its healthcare coverage for students.
Wheaton College in Chicago will no longer offer coverage to its 3,000 students because of the Obamacare mandate requiring birth control coverage.
The healthcare law requires coverage of abortion-inducing drugs that violates the Christian beliefs espoused by the school.
About a quarter of Wheaton's student body takes part in the college insurance program.
Wheaton's student development vice president Paul Chelsen told students during a July 23 information session that the school will provide hardship funding for some students losing insurance.
He said the move is an effort to protect a lawsuit it has against the Department of Health and Human Services. He said the government is telling the school it has to offer something it finds "morally objectionable."
