A North Carolina teen has been charged with planning to kill "a large number" of U.S. citizens for ISIS.

Authorities say the father of 19-year-old Justin Sullivan turned him in. The teen was reportedly planning to buy an AR-15 rifle to gun down people at a bar or a concert.

The criminal complaint against Sullivan says he scouted locations online. He was reportedly radicalized by watching ISIS propaganda on social media.

The FBI first became aware of Sullivan in April, when his father called 911, saying, "I don't know if it is ISIS or what, but he is destroying Buddhas and figurines and stuff."

In June, an FBI undercover officer made contact with Sullivan, who told him he had converted to Islam and was a mujahid (Islamic fighter), authorities said, sharing details of some of the terror attacks he was planning.

Sullivan reportedly planned several terror attacks using biological weapons to kill 1,000 people and videotape the attacks for ISIS. He's been charged with attempting to provide material support to a terror group and with two weapons-related charges.

If convicted on all the charges, he could face up to 40 years in prison.
