Federal officials have charged an Arizona man with helping plan the attack against the "Draw Mohammed" contest in Texas in May.

The two attackers, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, opened fire at the event in Garland, Texas, before a police officer at the scene returned fire, killing both men.

A federal indictment says Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem, 43, met with the men several times in his home between January 7 and May 3, one day before the attack.

The indictment also alleges that Kareem gave the attackers the guns they used and practiced shooting with them in the desert.

Kareem has been charged with conspiracy, transportation of firearms across state lines to commit a felony, and making false statements to the FBI.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, but authorities say there's nothing to support their claim.
