Navy Chaplain Wes Modder has been reassigned from the Naval Nuclear Power Training command as he awaits a hearing on whether he will be punished.
As CBN News reported, complaints have been filed against Modder for expressing his Christian views against premarital sex and homosexuality in private counseling sessions.
Modder's attorney, Mike Berry, is with Liberty Institute.
In a recent interview with CBN News, Berry said Modder, an Assemblies of God minister, is obligated to express the beliefs of his church.
"Military regulations say that it is the endorsing denomination that holds all the cards when it comes to being a chaplain," Berry explained. "And if a chaplain does something that is contrary to the doctrine of the denomination, that denomination can pull the endorsement, which means that person can't serve as a chaplain any more."
Modder could be fired from his Navy post just months before he reaches his 20-year retirement.
