CBN's Operation Blessing is on the ground in Van, Texas, helping the community recover after a deadly EF3 tornado ripped through the town Sunday night.
At least two people died and about a dozen others were injured. Around 30 percent of the city's structures, including schools, sustained heavy damage. Nearly 120 homes were either destroyed or substantially damaged.
A 14-year-old neighbor found the bodies of retired policeman David Tapley and his wife, Brenda, who were killed when their home collapsed. The couple's dog was found alive in his owner's arms.
Everyone from rescue workers to residents had to leave the area due to a gas leak.
With the leak repaired, Operation Blessing is now training and sending volunteers to help the town's residents.
