A federal judge has ordered Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis to appear in his courtroom for a hearing Thursday.
Davis refuses to issue marrriage licenses for same-sex couples, based on her religious beliefs, even after the governor ordered her to do so or resign.
She appealed her case all the way to the Supreme Court but was turned away.
Plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Davis say they want the judge to fine her, but not send her to jail.
Davis said her stand is not about gays or lesbians, but rather a "matter of religious liberty, which is protected under the First Amendment."
She and six deputy clerks will appear before U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning in federal court Thursday morning.
