The Little Sisters of the Poor will go before the Supreme Court March 23rd to challenge the federal government's mandate that they offer abortion drugs despite their religious convictions.
The order of Catholic nuns who are dedicated to serving the poor and elderly are being forced by the federal government to change their healthcare plans to offer drugs that are against their religious convictions.
However, the same drugs can be offered through healthcare exchanges.
Despite promising the nuns protection, the government later insisted that under Obamacare they are required to offer abortifacient and other contraceptive drugs.
The nuns contend that the government's actions are unconstitutional because even secular companies, who employ one-third of America's employees, are not required to provide the same drugs.
The ruling of this case can be monumental in determining if religious institutions will be forced to compromise their convictions to comply with a federal government mandate.
