Federal prosecutors asked to postpone the Tuesday hearing at which they'd planned to request Apple be forced to unlock the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino, California, terrorists.
The suprise announcement comes after the FBI revealed it may be able to bypass Apple to unlock the encrypted iPhone.
Authorities say they may be able to hack into the phone with help from an "outside party."
The FBI says the couple who carried out the attack were inspired by the Islamic State.
