Authorities in Columbus, Indiana, are investigating Islamic graffiti that was spray painted on three churches over the weekend.
Police say the vandals defaced the churches in Columbus with messages like "Infidels!" and "Quran 3:151" -- a verse that threatens to cast terror into the hearts of non-Muslims and condemn them to fire.
"It's upsetting to people, certainly because we have a beautiful church, but also because what is the message if there is a message? Because, there's just not a whole lot to go on," Columbus TV station Fox 59 quoted Father Doug Marcotte, associate pastor of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
It's not clear if the vandals were radical Muslims or pranksters trying to incite hatred against Muslims.
Members of the Islamic Society of Columbus condemned the graffiti and offered to clean it up.
