A federal judge has struck down Chicago's ban on gun sales, ruling it unconstitutional.
U.S. District Judge Edmond Chang said the law goes too far and that it does not even appear to prevent gun violence.
"The evidence does not support that the complete ban sufficiently furthers the purposes that the ordinance tries to serve," Chang wrote.
He said the government has a duty to protect its citizens, but it must also protect the fundamental rights provided by the Constitution, like the right to keep and bear arms.
