NATO will withdraw all of its troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year if the country doesn't agree to a new security pact with the United States.

The announcement came a day after President Barack Obama threatened to remove American troops if no peace deal is made.

Without an agreement, security forces from America's allies will have to leave with American troops.

"Let me stress, this is not our preferred option," NATO's secretary general Anders Fogh Rasmussen said. "But these are the facts -- the facts that we need to take into account in our planning."

Army General Martin Dempsey said it might lead some security forces there to form links with the Taliban.

How will the Taliban react? CBN New Terrorism Analyst Erick Stackelback offered more insight on CBN Newswatch, Feb. 26.
