At least two dozen people are dead after five days of flooding in southeastern Europe, making it the worst flooding in more than a century.
Three months' worth of rain fell in three days across the Balkan region. Tens of thousands of people in Serbia and Bosnia have been driven from their homes, and entire towns are under water.
At least 17 people died in Serbia and not less than 17 lost their lives in Bosnia. The death toll is expected to rise as floodwaters recede.
Some 2,000 people are still believed trapped in higher floors of buildings, without power or phone lines. Soldiers, police, and volunteers have struggled to protect the power plant that supplies electricity for half of Serbia.
Floodwaters have also triggered more than 3,000 landslides.
