A television network in France has been hacked by a group claiming ties to the Islamic State.
The hackers were able to cut transmission of 11 channels of the TV5Monde network, headquartered in Paris, which broadcasts its programs in 200 countries worldwide.
The group also hacked the network's website and Facebook accounts, replacing the profile pictures with a masked Islamist.
"Soldiers of France, stay away from the Islamic State," the group threatened on Facebook. "You have the chance to save your families, take advantage of it. The CyberCaliphate continues its cyberjihad against the enemies of the Islamic State."
The message on the TV5Monde website read, "I am IS," with a banner bearing the group's name, "The Cyber Caliphate."
A group with the same name hacked Newsweek's Twitter feed in February.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabias said the government plans to "not only deal with the situation, but also to get ahead of what the terrorists in their sick brain might have in mind."
