The gunman in last week's train attack in Europe has been charged with carrying out a "targeted and premeditated" terror attack.

Along with firearms offenses, French prosecutors charged Moroccan national Ayoub El-Khazzani, 25, with participation in a terrorist association and noted that he had 270 bullets with him for his assault rifle.

El-Khazzani is denying the accusations, insisting he stumbled on a sack of weapons and decided to rob the train's passengers.

But prosecutors say he had recently traveled to Turkey, possibly en route to Syria and had watched a jihadi video on his cellphone moments before the attack.

Meanwhile, three Americans who took him down are getting ready to come home.

Spencer Stone and Alek Skarlatos, both members of the U.S. military, are in Germany for additional medical treatment.

A fourth American wounded in the attack is still hospitalized.
