Jordanian King Promises 'Relentless' War on ISIS

02-05-2015

Jordan's King Abdullah II is promising a "harsh war" against ISIS.

"We are waging this war to protect our faith, our values, and human principles. And our war for their sake will be relentless and will hit them in their own ground," the king said in a statement aired on Jordanian state television.

The move comes after Islamic State terrorists placed captive Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh in a cage, burned him alive, and then released a video of the killing.

In retaliation, Jordan executed two al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists, including Sajida al-Rishawi, a female would-be suicide bomber, at dawn the following morning.

Abdullah consulted with military chiefs Wednesday after cutting short his trip to Washington.

Jordan is part of a U.S.-led military alliance that has been bombing terror targets in Syria for nearly five months.
