Hundreds of thousands migrants fleeing war and chaos in the Middle East are continuing to flock to Europe in hopes of being granted asylum.
Over the weekend, Austria took in 14,000 refugees stuck in Hungary. On Monday, France announced it will accept 24,000, and the United Kingdom is expected to take another 10,000.
Pope Francis also called on every Catholic parish in Europe to help one family and the Vatican itself will take in two.
"Faced with the tragedy of tens of thousands of refugees who are fleeing death by war and by hunger, and who are on a path toward a hope for life, the Gospel calls us to be neighbors to the smallest and most abandoned," Francis told pilgrims and tourists in St. Peter's Square on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Greece is seeking help from the European Union to deal with 230,000 war refugees who came through Turkey.
