Congressional lawmakers are back in Washington after a long summer vacation, and the Iranian nuclear deal is the top item on their agenda.
Republicans and a handful of Democrats say the deal makes dangerous concessions to Iran without really stopping the regime from working toward a nuclear bomb.
They plan to pass a resolution disapproving the deal this week.
At the moment, Senate Democrats don't have enough votes to filibuster that resolution, but President Barack Obama is planning to veto it.
After extensive lobbying, the Obama administration has secured enough Senate Democrat votes to uphold the president's veto if it comes to that.
It all means the radical Islamic regime of Iran will likely get relief from economic sanctions this year as they push ahead with their nuclear program.
Three prominent Democratic senators have come out against the deal: Chuck Schumer of New York, Robert Menendez of New Jersey, and Ben Cardin of Maryland, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Republicans unanimously oppose the agreement.
In the presidential race, Donald Trump is joining Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for a rally to oppose the deal Wednesday. That same day Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver a speech supporting it.
