British PM Calls for Defending the Christian Faith

09-08-2014

British Prime Minister David Cameron is encouraging his country to stand up for Christianity, in an opinion piece published in the Church Times online.

He said Christians make a big difference in people's lives and those contributions should be recognized.

"Crucially, the Christian values of responsibility, hard work, charity, compassion, humility, and love are shared by people of every faith and none - and we should be confident in standing up to defend them," Cameron said.

Cameron rejected the idea that people should not talk about their religion in an "ever more secular age."

"I believe in God and I'm a Christian and I worship - not as regularly as I should - but I go to church," he said.

The prime minister said he knows Christians know how powerful faith can be in the toughest of times.
