Congress returned to work Monday after a two-week break, and with 2014 being an election year, there's a lot at stake for lawmakers.
Republicans are seeking to maintain their House majority and seize control of the Democrat-led Senate.
Some of the issues topping their agenda this session include an extension of unemployment benefits, the presdent's health care plan, the debt ceiling, and confirming Janet Yellen as the head of the Federal Reserve.
Lawmakers also face a Jan. 15 deadline to agree on a spending bill to avoid a partial shutdown similar to that from last fall.
