Egyptians are heading to the polls to pick their next president as the two day election kicks off Monday.
Egypt's presidential vote comes after the country's first democratically elected leader, Mohammed Morsi, was ousted from power last year.
Former Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the current Defense Minister Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi is expecting to win the presidency.
"He is a military strict man. He will grip the country and bring security to the street," Olfat Sayed Hasanein, a university professor who voted for el-Sisi said. "We cannot afford any more failures."
El-Sisi, 59-years-old, is responsible for former president Morsi's ouster and has risen to become the most powerful political figure among Egypt's 53 million registered voters.
"The whole world is watching to see how the Egyptians will make history," el-Sisi told reporters.
Egyptians are hoping the election will help to restore security and revive the nation's economy.
