More than 4,000 people gathered to say a last goodbye to S. Truett Cathy, founder of the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain, Wednesday night.

Cathy was remembered not only for his business legacy, but for his commitment to biblical principles and his generous heart.

One mourner recalled of Cathy: "He often said, 'I am glad that I was brought up in poverty, for the lessons there could not have been learned anywhere else.'"

A self-made billionaire, Cathy's main commitment was to Winshape Homes, the foster care homes he supported that cared for hundreds of children.

"I had always heard bad things about foster homes and I was so scared," foster daughter Marlena White recalled. "I moved here...and it was nothing like I had ever heard. It may be considered a foster home, but it's not... It's more like a family."

Cathy died early Monday morning at the age of 93.
