Damage from widespread flooding in the midwest is so extensive that surging water levels have left large areas without any way to protect against future floods. Hundreds of miles of levees have been damaged, many of them were aging and never designed to withstand water levels seen over the last decade. But levees aren't the only structures used to prevent flooding. Dams hold back even larger amounts of water and, according to The American Society of Civil Engineers, by 2020, seventy percent of the dams in the US will be more than 50 years old. Reporter Heather Sells is on the road in CA where concerns have been raised that if there's epic flooding, a dam protecting Los Angeles could burst. She's on today's CBN News Daily Rundown.
