12-Year-Old’s Search for God

05-09-2019

Zakhar is growing up in Ukraine.  He’s popular at school and has lots of friends.  But the 12-year-old had questions about life and death and about God.

“I knew God existed. My grandma told me that,” he told CBN.  “We even had a Bible but I didn't read it or understand it.”

Then a friend invited Zakhar to church.  That’s where he watched CBN’s Superbook for the first time.
After watching, he started asking questions about life and death, mostly at night while he tried to fall asleep.

“I couldn't sleep because I was thinking, 'Why I am here if I'm just gonna die anyway? Why was I born?,’” he said.  “And I was afraid of dying, of going to hell.  I thought about that a lot.”

Then Zakhar watched the Superbook episode “He is Risen.”

“That was my favorite episode because I learned that Jesus died to take away my sins. God also did a miracle. He raised Jesus from the dead.”

Zakhar prayed with the pastor to become a Christian.

“I asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me! To forgive my sins and make me clean.”

Zakhar prayed that God would help him with something else.

“I asked to set me free from fear of death,” he said.  “I felt God's heard my prayer. I started sleeping without fear at night.”

Zakhar also invited his Mom and grandmother and brother to church and they prayed to become Christians too.

“I have been attending Superbook for four years now. Superbook has changed me!” he said confidently. “I like Superbook.  It helps kids learn about God. Thanks so much for giving it to us.”
