Bethsaida a Place to Find Peace in a Troubled World

07-14-2016

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.” Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. (John 1: 43-44 NIV)

Travel north of the Sea of Galilee and you will find the peaceful town of Bethsaida, which is home to Peter, Andrew and Philip. According to the Book of Luke, this amazing village is host to the feeding of 5,000 people and where Jesus healed a blind man. Sit down for a moment, close your eyes and position your heart on the miracle Jesus performed.

Jesus replied, “Tell them to sit down in groups of about fifty each.” So the people all sat down. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers! (Luke 9:14-17 NLT)

Jesus had five loaves, two fish and fed 5,000 people. Take a moment and read through the Book of Luke, and you can’t help but be overwhelmed by the power and weight of this miracle. It must be experienced firsthand.

Find peace as you set out on foot over the same cobblestone steps that Jesus walked on. Bethsaida is positioned on a hill with breathtaking views of the Sea of Galilee and natural rock seats for Bible study and prayer. If you’re looking for a place to re-center your soul and grow closer to Jesus, Bethsaida is a must-see stop.
