"The Insanity of God" is a film described as a true story of resurrected faith. It details the story of missionaries Nik and Ruth Ripken.
After the death of their son, the Ripkens journey into the depths of the persecuted church, asking the question - Is Jesus worth it?
CBN News spoke with Nik Ripken about the realities of Christian persecution and what it was like to see his life's story on the big screen.
"I think once you see the film, Ruth and I disappear in the narrative," Ripken said. "Believers and persecution - they become the narrators, (but) they don't become the essence of the story."
"The essence of the story is a God who is doing everything today that he did in the Old (and) New Testament. And it is about (the) resurrection of Christ being the turning point of history," Ripken added.
"The Western church doesn't know about the persecuted church," he said. "Not because they don't know about those people over there - but because they don't witness enough to have opposition to their own faith to discover that persecution is normal for all of us."
Ripken said he hopes after viewers see the film they will answer 'yes' to the question "Is Jesus worth my life?"
The movie hits theaters for a one night showing Aug. 30.
