This Close-Up of Carrie Underwood's Face Stole the Show, Even Before the ACM Awards

Singer Carrie Underwood surprised the social media world when she posted a new photo to Instagram showing a closeup of her face after suffering a fall at her home back in November. Underwood, a devout Christian, performed at the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night. 

"Had a great rehearsal for the @acmawards ! Can’t wait until tomorrow night! #CryPretty #ACMAwards," she wrote on the photo's caption Saturday. 

Last week, Underwood released another photograph on Instagram showing her in rehearsals.

She wrote the caption, "Getting ready for the weekend…#CryPretty #ACMawards@CALIAbyCarrie"

As CBN News reported, she broke her wrist and suffered cuts and abrasions, as well as injuring her face so badly she required 40 to 50 stitches.

Since the accident, the Checotah, Oklahoma native hadn't posted any pictures of her full face on any of her social media accounts.

Underwood, 35, had also posted a photo of herself rehearsing with her band, writing "Missed these guys."

Underwood had hinted of a return to the stage when she posted a black and white photo showing her sitting in a recording studio April 4.

The ACM Awards were broadcast live from Las Vegas Sunday night on CBS.

After the traumatic injury to her face last autumn, Underwood's husband reached out in faith to all her fans saying, "I'm reminded that through our pain, fears and tough times, God is with us and He's painting a beautiful story through it all (Romans 8:28)."
