Tavis Smiley and Major Garrett from National Journal join me this week on The Brody File show.
Major Garrett dissects the possible political landmines ahead for some of the 2012 GOP presidential candidates.
Tavis Smiley discusses his new book called, Fail Up: 20 Lessons On Building Success From Failure.
God intends for us to lead happy lives, yet millions of people suffer from depression. And a lot of them are parents. Everyone has down moments and days, but depression is an all-consuming feeling of vulnerability and sadness. When you are depressed as a parent, it can throw the functioning of your whole family off. Your spouse and kids can get caught in the crossfire of your anxieties and sadness.
For the second time in his political career, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint session of the United States Congress on Tuesday.
To say the least, he found a receptive audience. Both Republicans and Democrats cheered Netanyahu and interrupted his speech more than 20 times with standing ovations.
Called by some, the “speech of his life,” Netanyahu first made common cause with the Congress and America:
During his visit in England today, President Obama addressed the devastating tornadoes back home in the United States.
"Obviously, our thoughts and prayers are with the families who are suffering at this moment. And all we can do is let them know that all of America cares deeply about them and that we are going to do absolutely everything we can to make sure that they recover," Obama said.
He's dispatched a team of federal government leaders to Joplin, Mo., to lead recovery efforts.
Tim Pawlenty is a Republican presidential candidate who looks great on paper. He’s got the credentials to satisfy both main street Republicans, the Tea Party crowd and Evangelicals.
Pawlenty’s challenge now becomes bringing his candidacy to life. Put another away, he needs to start to move away from the dreaded 4 percent poll number. He’s been stuck with low poll numbers for a bit now.
The good news is that voters haven’t begun to fully engage. When they do, Pawlenty will need to be able to communicate his message in an effective way.
How did Kent get out of the fast lane and into Jesus’ easy yoke? What can we learn from Kent’s story about being still in God’s presence? He had to make a lifestyle change.
Exercise is one of the most beneficial habits a person can adopt. But a foot injury can sideline your attempts to get in shape.
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common foot injuries. It is painful and may require you to stay off your feet for weeks. But the good news is, you can avoid it if you take some precautions.
The plantar fascia ligament is attached to your heel. When it is subjected to repeated stress it can become inflamed. It can even tear. It's important to understand what types of activities can place stress on the plantar fascia.
President Obama is in Europe this week. After spending the day in Ireland, he departed early because of a cloud of volcanic ash coming from Iceland.
"Due to a recent change in the trajectory in the plume of volcanic ash, Air Force One will depart Ireland for London tonight," White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest said.
The President's schedule is otherwise unaffected.
That harsh critique came from Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., Monday afternoon, ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to a joint session of Congress.
If the president was looking for support from lawmakers on Capitol Hill for his Mideast peace proposal he sure won't find it from Mr. Cantor. As the only Jewish lawmaker in the Republican conference, and an ardent supporter of Israel, Mr. Cantor appears to be living up to his pledge to "serve as a check" on any policy that would threaten a strong U.S.-Israeli relationship.
It was an unforgettable, extraordinary day. The day we ate flaming sea bass, shot a nine-minute story in just six hours, climbed a 1,500-year-old wall and wandered back in time a thousand years to spend a few hours in ancient Byzantium.
