Casting Crown's lead singer Mark Hall is heading home from the hospital Monday after a successful surgery to remove a cancerous growth on his kidney.
The lead singer of the popular Christian band announced via Facebook March 5 that doctors had discovered a lump in his kidney they were 90 percent sure was cancerous.
He asked his fans to pray for his surgery March 11 where doctors removed the infected kidney.
Over the weekend, Mark's wife Melanie announced on the band's Facebook page that the surgery was nothing short of a miracle.
She said although the pathology report did show that the kidney was cancerous, the doctors confirmed they caught it in the earliest stage possible and it did not spread to anywhere else in his body.
"It was also determined to be a nuclear level 3 cell type, which is aggressive," she explained. "What that means is that it was active and ready to go somewhere. This just makes all of this even more of a miracle."
She goes on to describe briefly the chain of events that led to the early discovery of the cancer.
"I wish that I could explain in words how much of a miracle it was, but it would take too many words," Melanie said.
On Monday, she posted that her husband was cleared to return home after a rough week in the hospital.
"Mark turned a corner yesterday and had a good night last night. We think we've figured out how to manage his pain at home," she said. "Walking by faith one day at a time."
The family asks for continued prayers that Mark's pain would subside during the next few weeks post surgery.
