A government report that says AmeriCorps volunteers escorted young, pregnant women to abortion clinics is prompting some members of Congress to call for an investigation and even termination of the program's federal funds.
"This happened 3 years ago and now we're just finding this out?" Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) told CBN News, "people should be held accountable for this."

The Office of Inspector General report says that six members of AmeriCorps transported the women to the clinics, which is a violation of federal law. AmeriCorps is a federally funded organization.
The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that oversees AmeriCorps, said it was "deeply disappointed" that the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) allowed six Americorps volunteers to transport women to abortion clinics. The NACHC operates part of AmeriCorps' health branch and oversees a youth job-training program which included the abortion escort services.
Black told CBN News "I support community health centers, have always supported them, believe they give very good services but this hasn't just broken the law--this has broken the trust of the American people."
Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) is calling on the government to immediately terminate its grant with the community health centers. He notes that Americorps members violated the law as recently as 2011 when Congressional hearings were held to examine Americorps members who engaged in prohibited advocacy for Planned Parenthood.
