Recent Study Reveals Waning Faith in Americans

03-23-2016

The percentage of Americans who believe in God and who pray hit an all-time low in 2014, while a slightly higher percentage now believe in an afterlife.

That's according to a new research project by San Diego State, Florida Atlantic and Case Western Reserve. Researchers studied data from 58,893 respondents.

"The biggest decline in faith rested with younger Americans ages 18-29," said San Diego State University professor Jean M. Tweng, who led the research.

"The large declines in religious practice among young adults are also further evidence that Millennials are the least religious generation in memory and possible in American history," Tweng said.
