Three people were killed in northeastern Alabama after a suspected tornado tore through the area of Rosalie destroying their mobile home.

The severe storms traveled throughout the South Tuesday where two other people also died in Tennessee.

Jackson County in northeastern Alabama took the brunt of the storm that caused destruction over a 1.5 mile path that knocked down power lines and mangled mobile homes.

A Christian daycare was also wiped out completely from the storm.

Alabama Power Co. reported that 3,500 customers are now without power after the storms, mostly in the state's western counties.

Jackson County Coroner Harry Laney told CNN that local officials and law enforcement have started to look at the damage to homes and treat injured residents.

A search-and-rescue team has also started to look for others who may have been injured.

According to Accuweather.com, the greatest risk of tornadoes extended from central and northeastern Louisiana to western and northern Mississippi and part of southwestern Tennessee.
