Former Army Sgt. Kyle J. White is being awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism during combat in Afghanistan.
He is the seventh living recipient of the award for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.
President Barack Obama presented him with the medal during a White House ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
The 27-year-old former army sergeant saved a fellow soldier's life and helped evacuate other members of his team after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2007.
White retired from the Army in 2011.
