The "GED" High School Equivalence test has undergone major changes.
The General Educational Development test was created in 1942.
It was meant to help WWII veterans who had dropped out of high school to get college benefits under the GI Bill.
The test has now now been revamped to make it more rigorous and aligned to skills needed for college and today's workplace.
The new "GED" test will be offered by computer only and will cost more.
The rollout of the new test begins January 2nd
