Despite the turmoil surrounding those in the middle east, one Christmas tree stands tall overlooking Baghdad.

A Muslim businessman in Iraq said he erected the tallest Christmas tree in the city in order to show solidarity with Christians.

He told the Associated Press that his goal is to bring others together with "our Christian brothers in their holiday celebrations and helping Iraqis forget their anguish, especially the war in Mosul."

The tree is 85 feet tall and stretches 33 feet wide and was placed in Baghdad's al-Zawra Park. The project cost $24,000.

The Christian population in Iraq has already been on a  big decline since the US invasion in 2003 with Christians being targeted by Islamic terrorists.
